Jess Phillips's election night speech last year was remarkable for utterly ignoring the elephant in the room. She claimed it was misogyny that fuelled the unpleasant and occasionally violent campaign. So the men heckling her were misogynists – simple. I was going to write that her self-delusion is extraordinary, but it's not delusion – she knows precisely what the issue is and she refuses to confront it.
Fighting this and related conflicts is a national defense against jihad. Good Muslims either don’t have the will or the ability to control their own. So here we are, everywhere in the West, where Islam is in power. I was naive to believe otherwise.
KAM, naïve, so you forgive yourself? I don’t forgive you. I say you’re stupid and you have destroyed our countries. When people said we were making a mistake you hurled invective correct? You called those people bigots correct? Come on try not to be a liar. Admit it. Admit that it is your fault. Ask me how I know.
KAM, forgive my trespass, I don’t know you, my bad. But I do know prevarication when I hear it and naïve is a cop out. It is disproportionate to the outcome: societal destruction. I’m guilty of the exact same thing, I too thought all this immigration was ok and now we face collapse of our societies. I’m guilty of the same thing. I’m simply saying that I was put off by your notion that it’s simply naïve, it is much much worse than that.
Fake feminist Jess Phillips isn't "a champion of women and girls," she champions women and girls who fall in the right position in the left's hierarchy of victimhood i.e. women and girls who are raped by white men. She doesn't care about the victims of the grooming gangs. Two years on, she has said nothing about the mass rapes of Jewish women committed by Hamas and other Palestinians on 7 October 2023 (she was, however, quick of the mark insinuating that Israel was committing war crimes, before the Israeli response had really begun).
She has used abused women and girls to forward her political career, nothing more. Women and girls whose defence would harm her career, by being from the wrong identity demographic, or by being abused by men from the wrong identity demographic, will get no help from this self-interested careerist.
Also, I don't usually stoop to repeating gossip, but this comment from The Spectator's daily news email was revealing:
"As well as grooming gang victims, some of Phillips's own colleagues are rapidly losing faith in her. She is frequently criticised for being rude, with some of her fellow politicians remarking on the strength of feeling she brings to any debate she's involved in. Not everyone accepts that she is hard-working, with one Labour backbencher telling the Times: 'I haven't seen her deliver anything apart from loud noise.'"
"Strength of feeling" is a nice political euphemism for "verbally abusing her colleagues."
I'm an American so am more familiar with the Epstein horror than the rape gangs horror in Britain.
In both cases, not investigating and prosecuting to a full extent will have long term negative effects on each country's sense of justice. Especially at a fragile time for the working class where most of the victims come from in Britain and I imagine most of Epstein's victims as well.
I so want to comment, but lll have to go for a run first.
Mary, without the likes of you and Louise and others who have light of day exposure to propell this further, lm afraid it will be left in the dark again.
The UK decided to remake itself as a multicultural/multiracial nation decades ago. Neither Labour nor the Conservatives now have the capacity to address the resultjng problems like grooming gangs. Neither can admit that major cities now have negotiated policing that empower clan-leaders and Deobandi imams. Neither can acknowledge that organised sexual predation against non-Muslim women, supported by the community, is a serious issue in South Asia, where it is called 'love jihad'.
Labour itself is infiltrated by fellow-travellers of the Muslim Brotherhood. Any honesty now would split the party.
Furthermore, Jess Phillips might well face assassination if she were to prioritise fidelity to white Britons over Pakistanis. The fate of David Ames hangs over Westminster.
Finally, contempt for the native working class is deeply embedded in the middle and professional classes and naturally extends across the ranks of senior police and the judiciary. The complaisancy with which the latter treated the rape crisis reveals the true character of British institutions.
Aussie, you are saying that there is no solution. Both parties are infiltrated by the Muslims and/or beholden to their votes such that the white apparatchiks must look the other way or risk party collapse. They are ambitious so they won’t risk that and they are bigots against the working classes anyway. A conundrum.
My speculation, England, the UK, the western world are populated by apathetic consumers and the failure of governace will be tolerated unto destruction. Curtis said if you want to see our near future visit Johannesburg, for the long view he suggested Kinshasa.
I think the Hobbesian war of all against all is inevitable.
My 86 year-old friend was robbed at knife point. The assailant was caught, and now the Canadian system is attempting to deal with him. For my neighbour to register his side of the story, he has to accept that his identity will be revealed. He is terrified. The assailant has a long history of criminality. We contemplated taking matters into our own hands. The system cannot help us.
Yes. It is abundantly obvious that the system in the UK is beyond reform. Party collapse is not their only worry: assasination and terror way more important. Muslim extremists already killed one MP (Sir David Ames) and the member for Thatcher's old seat resigned in fear after receiving too many deaths threats. Palestine Action was proscribed because of the number of death threats its members were making against MPs.
Canada is a mad house. Australia not far behind. Our government is bringing in hundreds of Gazan refugees and plans on increasing the number. Last year the gov't restructured the body that has oversight over national security. The heads of our version of MI5 and MI6 were excluded. And now the government is considering recommendations to counter Islamophobia. These include compulsory training for federal law enforcement.
Things will keep getting worse untill we experience an economic collapse. After the crash the vultures (sovereign wealth funds from places like Qatar) swoop.
Canada is going to survive because of this new fellow in charge, Carney, he has balls and he holds the whip hand. As the leader of liberal party, he heads up the establishment and so has free rein to do whatever he wants. It seems to me that he is focussed on simple maintenance governance. This is such a relief after the sissy Prime Minister with all his cosplay and histrionics about justice and values.
Hope you are right about survival. Carney looks like a piece of work, whatever his politics.
Survival is not a high bench-mark. My guess is that Canada, like Australia, will be nastier, tougher places than before. Being very early Gen X, it is way too late for me too toughen up, but I certainly feel for the young.
Piece of work means fit for purpose; I own a large company, 5000 employees, I am now a piece of work, that is the deal.
Tough times are upon us now and the future looks very grim. Canada is still bountiful but we have mismanaged ourselves into a state of near collapse, survival is all we can do at present. I think Canada's viability is still a 50/50 proposition.
Your quip about it being too late to be tough is very funny.
With a company that size, you'd have a perspective focused on the practical. Presumably you are (reluctantly or otherwise) unsentimental. It must be thus, otherwise everything breaks down and we all live in Zimbabwean squalor. We deserve that, perhaps. But it's nice to have a system that actually works.
Check out my accusation against KAM on this board, I accuse that person of being a feckless prevaricator. I then finish with the rhetorical question: Do you understand why I accuse you thusly, why I know your treason.
Answer: I am exactly guilty of the same thing. I too was a feckless liberal with my head buried in the sand. I’m really busting the person‘s hump because he/she exonerated himself with the notion that he/she was naïve. Naïve is so milk toast . I say stupid.
Who is stupider than the English? You destroyed your own country with immigration you arrogant fools and now you’re covering up rape gangs. Your society deserves to perish and it will.

Can we keep it civil please folks
I don’t think I was rude. Does anything I say it makes sense to you?
You don’t know me.
Hurled invective at people wanting to limit immigration?
Not at all. Just the opposite.
And by the way, I’m an American. I live in the U.S. But I studied at York and my roots are there.
My naïveté has to do with the difference between persons and causes.
Your aim is way off.
KAM, forgive my trespass, I don’t know you, my bad. But I do know prevarication when I hear it and naïve is a cop out. It is disproportionate to the outcome: societal destruction. Not to put too fine a point on it, you’re full of shit.
Perfect: feckless to the end.

What do Canadian businessmen make of Trump?

How about this Mary Harrington author is she on the money? She seems OK to me.
The UK deserves better. Here's hoping.
She’s truly awful. People like this should be cleaning tables at the local pub, not holding the reins of power
There is a view from America (Jeff Childers) that Epstein material is being drip-fed into the news cycle for maximum political effect.
If so, if there are any senior American Democrats who have a sordid past history with Epstein, expect to hear about them just before the mid-terms.
Interesting
